Introduction - Pantech&Curitel was a mobile phone maker of the Pantech group, introducing phones with stylish design and new features under brands such as SKY. Supplying handsets to carriers at home and abroad, it created distinctive mobile experiences in the feature phone era and consistently explored new user experiences using sensors and interaction.
In the feature phone market, functions alone could not set a phone apart, and young users preferred emotional interactions and witty UI. Pantech&Curitel needed a new idle screen concept that used the phone’s built-in sensors so people could play with everyday actions.
Using the phone’s microphone, we designed an animated UI that recognizes the strength of the user’s breath in five levels, changing fish, windows and characters accordingly. The graphics were simplified so the motion is understood just by watching, and resources and motion were optimized to run smoothly on low-spec devices.
Key Features
• A five-level UI that reacts to breath strength
• Themed graphics and motion
• Idle screens linked to time and weather
• Resources optimized for low-spec phones
• Intuitive interaction without buttons
