Introduction - Saltcake Media Lab is Saltcake’s in-house research team, experimenting with new technologies and interactions to explore “the essential value of happy experiences.” It builds and exhibits new media technologies such as VR and AR, holograms and motion recognition, and carries the insights gained into the experience design of client projects.
To try your luck at the jackpot, you first have to press a button three meters high! “Lucky Seven” is a giant red game machine shaped like a slot machine and trimmed with twinkling light bulbs.
On top of a simple four-step flow of look, press, play and win, we added a playful twist: a button placed just out of reach. Standing on tiptoe, jumping and getting a boost from a friend all became part of the game.
Drawing out people’s actions and laughter before showing off any technology, this piece expressed the exhibition’s theme of “unexpected pleasure” most directly.
This work was shown at “Oh!”, the interactive exhibition by Saltcake Media Lab held in Hongdae, Seoul, from September 16 to 28, 2014.
