Introduction - Saltcake Media Lab is Saltcake’s in-house research team, experimenting with new technologies and interactions to explore “the essential value of happy experiences.” It builds and exhibits new media technologies such as VR and AR, holograms and motion recognition, and carries the insights gained into the experience design of client projects.
More than an ordinary vending machine, “Cheers” is a magical, creative Pandora’s box. Opening the fridge takes you on a journey into the emotional world of a creative beer factory. Visitors could see the entire process of making a fresh beer, from designing the bottle to filling it, capping it, printing the label and chilling it. Inside the fridge (hologram) is the finished beer, while outside (projection mapping) shows the whole engine system driving the process. Synchronizing the hologram and projection mapping helped users understand and immerse themselves in the world of the creative beer factory.
This work was shown at “Oh!”, the interactive exhibition by Saltcake Media Lab held in Hongdae, Seoul, from September 16 to 28, 2014.
