Introduction
SK Communications was SK Group’s internet service company operating Cyworld and Nate. Cyworld, known for its minihompy and “dotori” acorns, became Korea’s leading social network service and expanded to overseas markets including the United States, Japan, China, Germany and Southeast Asia, showing the world the potential of a Korean-style social network.

Cyworld was highly usable and stable in Korea, but in global markets its UI, menus and operating policies differed by country, limiting scalability and weakening the brand experience. Screen elements applied differently by region made features harder to find and the service harder for new users to understand.

We reinterpreted Cyworld’s core service model of minihompy, profiles, photo albums and content activities from a global user’s point of view and designed a Global UI Standard Framework that minimizes differences between countries. Areas, navigation, feed structures and content card specifications were standardized, with a modular structure extendable to skins, colors and components.

Key Features

• A UX/UI standard framework based on global user flows

• Unified navigation, feed and content card specifications

• Modular UI components ready for each country

• A UX system that secures brand consistency and efficiency
