Introduction
Founded in 1958, LG Electronics is a global electronics company that is part of customers’ daily lives around the world with home appliances, TVs, air conditioners and more. WHISEN is LG Electronics’ air conditioner brand, taking care of the air at home with the technology and trust it has built as a long-time leader of Korea’s air conditioner market.

Choosing an air conditioner is harder than it seems. The right product depends on the size and layout of the home, the number of family members and the living environment, yet in store customers face similar-looking models and unfamiliar spec sheets. That is why many put off the decision or rely on staff. Saltcake took on the UX/UI of the LG Whisen in-store kiosk, from strategy to GUI design, to create a buying experience where anyone can choose a product based on their own life.

A Flow Where Answering Questions Leads to the Right Product

The kiosk opens not with a product list but with an invitation: “Meet the Whisen that fits your home and your family.” Under the name “WHISEN @ HOME,” it starts with two paths, finding a personalized Whisen or checking promotions. Starting from what customers already know, such as family size, room size and living environment, the question-based flow lets them enter through the criterion they care about and narrow down options step by step. As choices build up, the recommendation becomes clearer, in a flow as clear as a game, so customers understand for themselves why the final product is right for them.

Universal Design Anyone Can Use

An in-store kiosk is used by customers of every age and level of digital experience. So we built the screens around pictograms that communicate without reading, with a simple and consistent selection flow that lets first-time users proceed without hesitation. The project turns the experience of easily choosing a complex appliance into trust in the brand.
