Introduction - SK Hynix is a global semiconductor company making memory chips such as DRAM and NAND flash. Starting as Hyundai Electronics in 1983 and joining SK Group in 2012, it leads next-generation memory technologies such as High Bandwidth Memory (HBM) together with employees at production and research sites around the world.
SKMS (SK Management System) is SK’s management framework that defines its philosophy and principles. For SK Hynix, growing rapidly as a global semiconductor company, helping employees around the world relate to and practice these values in their daily work was an important challenge. Saltcake built a new corporate culture website for SK Hynix on web and mobile, and continued with a second phase in 2019 that refined both the system and the creative.
Culture content: introducing the Junior Board
From a Culture You Read to a Culture You Join
When corporate culture is only delivered through announcements, it drifts away from employees’ everyday lives. So we structured SK Hynix’s culture, values and real stories into a content hub anyone can easily explore, and designed a social, community-style UX where employees post their own stories and share empathy and feedback. Integration with the HR system to improve access was another key step in lowering the barrier to participation.
A Culture Platform That Keeps Itself Going
We built a cycle in which content is posted, reactions accumulate, and those reactions inspire new stories. Rather than a top-down campaign, the site became a place where employees shape their corporate culture together, laying the foundation for a culture that spreads voluntarily and lasts. Stories such as the introduction of the Junior Board, an employee-led channel that helps shape the company’s systems and policies, were told with hand-drawn illustrations and lively colors, making them far more engaging to read than typical internal notices.
